Picky Pizza

Updated: Mar 14, 2019

" Don't Sweat The Small Stuff"

I love an occasional warm slice of pizza. I also like the fact that I get to choose my own toppings. I read that some pizza restaurants have over thirteen topping options. They even let you get half of one set of toppings and the other half of another set of toppings. In other words, pizza seems perfect for a picky person. You pretty much get to have it your way. However, life doesn’t always work out that way. As a matter of fact, sometimes you get things you didn’t ask for and well, unlike a pizza. You can’t take it back.

Of course there’s nothing wrong with knowing what you want and knowing what you don’t want in life. However, one dictionary defines being picky as being (excessive) about what you want. In essence, sometimes you can do yourself a disservice by sweating the small stuff.

Let’s face it. Picky people can be hard to please.

I don’t particularly have a picky friend, but I can imagine that it would be quite challenging to maintain a friendship with someone who is always tearing everything apart. One day the foods too cold, the next day the foods too hot. There’s always something wrong. It can be quite exhausting being around someone who always expects perfection from a world where nothing will ever be perfect.

Some people say that picky people are generally picky towards themselves too.

If you’re a picky person try giving yourself a break. It’s okay that you’re not perfect. All we can do is our best and even then it’s not always perfect and that’s okay.

On the other hand, sometimes there is a good reason why some things bother you so much. Maybe you are the one who is meant to do something about it. Often change comes and inventions are created because someone was dissatisfied with what was available. A great example of this is the story of the creator of Spanx. Sara Blackey was dissatisfied with the undergarments available and one day when she was headed to work she decided to create her own. Sara learned to solve a problem, and because of her dissatisfaction, millions of women around the world are able to enjoy the benefits of her creation.

Don’t get me wrong. Some things are worth speaking up about, but frankly, some things are not worth the fuss.

Maybe the store didn’t bag your groceries right this time, or perhaps someone let the door close on you when you were walking into a building. This has happened to me a few times, but we shouldn’t let everything ruin our day.

I chose Picky Pizza for today’s recipe because although we have an option to choose our toppings on the pizza, we don’t have the option of selecting all the things that take place in life. However, we can determine whether or not we allow them to bother us.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this recipe, please feel free to share your personal “Don’t sweat the small stuff,” recipe with me. Some of the best recipes are the ones that are passed down. Until next time, I'll Chef Ya Later!
